Oil seal retainer for 8274 winches

Warn 8274 and 8074 winches are legendary—but anyone who’s rebuilt one knows the weak point: wear in the lower housing where the oil seal sits against the large cam.

Over time, this wear allows the oil seal to walk out of the housing, opening the door to water and dirt ingress. Left unchecked, this can lead to accelerated wear or complete winch failure when you need it most.

Our stainless steel retainer plates solve the problem properly. They positively retain the oil seal in the housing and also help secure factory brake shafts, reducing excessive end float and improving long-term reliability.

Laser cut from 2mm 304 stainless steel, these plates are built for a lifetime of hard use. Installation requires drilling and tapping three holes in the lower housing for a secure, permanent fix—no band-aids, no shortcuts.
